just one of the trees

on mah bod: dress + jacket: vintage shoes: c.o b.c. footwear| no brand backpack
in mah backpack: headphones c.o. frends| mini instax camera c.o. fujifilm

I haven't been this excited for a backpack since I started the first grade
and was presented with my very own monogrammed ll bean piece

elementary couture woo

MY BIRTHDAY IS IN TWO DAYS
and I'm totally not excited at all

lies
I'm so excited. I love birthdays.

especially mine.

We took these photos at a flea market that wasn't really a flea market.
It was like a fruit stand calling itself Walmart.

but it had cool murals and that's what counts

This outfit started as "Justina-we're-leaving-in-ten-minutes-get-dressed-are-you-awake"
and just sort of worked itself out.
The jacket was to protect me from the barely existent breeze that was creating
a chill in my California bones.

So I'm escaping the freeeezing climate for a surprise trip to SoCal.
Where I am going I do not know, but I'm sure I'll figure it out once I get there.

Or not, we all know how maps and I get along
aka not at all

zero navigation skills, not cute

But you know what WOULD be cute?

600 followers for my 16th birthday

which is the 2nd.
one day to win it all
("all" being a really happy Justina)

BUT
it's only 9 followers

we got this

I'll blow out a birthday candle for you

xx,
Justina

ps. these photos are so bright and I have no idea why

you're wearing sweatpants

 shirt: handmade|sunnies: c.o. zerouv| instax mini 8 c.o fujifilm

ok, maybe I have more "California" outfits than I'd like to admit.

But in my defense, this one combines two of my favorite things: Mean Girls + pink

It's also extremely reminiscent of my friend Katie, who pulls it off much better than I do.

Let's all take a moment to appreciate
the irony of a shirt saying  "you can't sit with us"
that everybody has

I've seen it all over the place but couldn't bring myself to actually buy it,
until I discovered Arden Rose's tutorial
and then nothing short of Regina George herself
could stop me from cutting up a shirt and making my own

 artsy lyfe

I HAVE A POLAROID CAMERA.

I've wanted one of these babies since B.O.B's Airplanes video,
and now Fujifilm has fulfilled my dream.

I'm so excited to play around with it and take lots of photos I won't need to filter.

Can we talk about these sunglasses?

pink. perfect.

talk over.

Also, in case you were confused by the shorts and sunshine and general lack of autumn:
it's the end of September here too.

We're one of the earliest states to get the Pumpkin Spice latte,
but we don't actually have the season to accompany it.
Frappuccino it is.

xx,
Justina

ps. my birthday is on the 2nd of October, and 600 followers by my 16th just needs to happen.
Pretty please with a birthday candle on top?

season of the overalls

 #teenvogue overalls + top: vintage|shoes c.o bc footwear

I could probably just live in my overalls and no one would notice, I wear them so often

You just can't argue with the pocket space.

Unfortunately, once it gets sorta kinda barely chilly,
(that's what passes for winter in California)
I won't be able to wear them as much.
So in an effort to extend their seasonabilty,
I've been experimenting with different tops/tights.

My goal is to be able to wear them until January,
and then summer starts again in February
so I'm pretty much covered year round.

Apparently there was something incredibly interesting in the grass,
since I am looking at it in nearly every single photo.

bugs life, take 2

We actually had to reshoot because in the first set, my bun started sliding down towards my forehead, giving me that much loved unicorn factor.
Some bobby pins returned it to it's whale spout (???) glory
As you can see, we have yet to take down our
halloween/christmas/new years decorations from the big bush.
I think it gives our yard a bit of flair.

Now I just need a couple plastic flamingos,
and I'm all set for the holidays.

xx,
Justina

ps. how do these blog posts even work

pps. teen vogue has just announced pink is the color of the season. The Plastics would be pleased.

I didn't get to crowdsurf: LAUNCHxMusic 2013

day 1 outfit: dress + sunnies: c.o. lulu*s, shoes c.o. bc footwear
day 2 outfit: vintage overalls + top, shoes c.o. bc footwear

my ears are still ringing, is that normal?

this weekend, I attended LAUNCH music festival,
which is a groovy (heard this word repeated about thirty bajillion times) new festival out of my hometown.

and for the sake of keeping this organized,
here's a brief thought list  I made while sitting on a lawn listening to St. Lucia:

1. #launchsacramento
2. geez it's hot. is anyone else hot?
3. I LIKE THIS BAND (Turquoise Jeep)
4. Snowcone time. And repeat. (see above pictures)
5. I LIKE THIS SINGER. (Dessa)
6. I need to bring a backpack tomorrow.
7. You guys, I'm really hot. (it was 100 and something degrees, literally.)
8.  THECULTSTHECULTSTHECULTS
9. Oooh, you have cool hair, let me follow you around so I can get a photo.
10.  (sing)
Make new friends, even though you'll never see them again, we'll always have im-a-gine dra-gons
11. Coachella shirts counted: 28

I had never been to a music festival before, but this one was a great starting point.
I tried coconut water for the first (and last) time,
grooved to some gangsta/dubstep/rave/kanye west music,
waved my arms around quite a bit,
and accepted compliments on my gorgeous shoes like nobodies business.
(slow clap for bc footwear, 'cause I was the only person not limping at the end of the day)

My outfits were well done if I do say so myself and I do
I floated about in my new favorite summer dress from Lulu*s
thank goodness it's summer until December here
and felt super peasant-chic in my favorite vintage top
Basically, I've got the festival look down

I'm not big into indie music,
(my ipod reads something like "Katy Perry Ke$ha Iggy Azalea Lana Del Rey")
so it was cool how many different types of music were happening.
I definitely discovered some new artists I liked.
(Grieves, Dessa, Doomtree)

The only thing I'm moaning about is an overall tan (#justinaproblems, am I right?

 update the festival calendar kids,
there's a new jam in town

xx,
Justina

So this weekend, I'm covering the LAUNCH music + fashion festival
here in the city I currently live in.

I'm going to be instagramming up a storm, so check that out

These photos were taken outside the fashion show,
which was held in a building I've loved since I was like five.

The best part was that every time we wanted to take a photos, the crowd of people just parted.
they get me

well they did until I started leaping about in these shoes
then it was like

"she's gonna break her ankle, let's watch"

I thought this sweater was terrifically amusing,
especially once people started jostling
(quite strongly thank you very much)
 for seats near the runway.
It also protected me from the harsh Arctic wind-er, air conditioning.
stop judging my sweater addiction

My purse (seen here taking a rest in the corner) is genius.
It is big, leather, and has spikes all over it to discourage
a. pickpockets
b. purse snatchers
c. people in my bubble

loooove it

now I'm off to bop to some indie music
in a floral crown
and converse
 like a legit hipster

xx,
Justina

An Open Letter To Madeline

backstory:
madeline is moving to London and which is amazing but I am not in London which is not amazing.
 end of backstory.

Dear Madeline,

I used to be really scared of you.

But then you grew out your green hair and I grew a foot taller and got a fashion blog.

That's how all the good adventures start.

In the last year, you have been
my partner in crime,
my prom date,
my fellow Amy Childs Fan Girl,
my not-British British buddy
my model wrangler,
and my basketball game body guard.

We've tried on that hideous Nicki Minaj lipstick, and eaten a lot of In n Out.
(well, I did, you just ate fries, which doesn't count)

Tomorrow you are finally going on this big adventure that you've wanted for so long,
and I'm really excited for you.

I'm also really excited the internet is a thing.

I was going to write a long gushy post but that I realised that

a. I am not a gushy person

b. booooring

so instead, here is some things you should not forget:

1.Faux fur vests don't do well in rain.

2. Stay Essex

3. Stop trying to explain veganism to carnivores.

4. Take your Georgia Nicholson book everywhere in case you need to quickly translate.

5. You are Posh Spice, but look like Baby Spice.

Also, if you do not send me post cards there will be problems.

Cheers and a bucket of water
(which is what your shoes will be the minute you step in a puddle)

xx,
Justina
