zip zip

 I'm hooooommmeee

No matter how many times I write that, no one ever cheers.

 why?
In case you haven't been checking my instagram (again, why?) I'm back from my conference!
It was a really amazing weekend, full of people I love, hilarious catchphrases, and a zipline.

that's right.

also, I built an owl box.

your little soda bottle humming bird feeder is crying tears of inadequateness

But now, I am back and I have all sorts of fun stuff planned for us.

so let's get down to it

An Open Letter To Prince George

Dear George,
(I'm going to call you George, ok? Because calling someone who is literally two days old "His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge" is just silly.)

Well kid, you finally decided to make an appearance.
Hallelujah, the reign of North West is over.

You're pretty cute for a wrinkly thing, but I have faith because both your parents are gorgeous. Hopefully you'll get your mums hairline though. And her fashion sense.
A sharply dressed prince is everyones favorite prince.

You've got a really cool uncle, and even you've bumped him down a rung on the royal ladder, hopefully we can avoid a whole "The Lion King" situation,
and just move straight to him being your favorite person on the planet.

Your Great-Grandmother will try to dress you in pastels all the time, and even though that's on trend right now, and even though shes the queen,  you must resist, or you'll be that kid forever.

Everyone is looking at you.
No pressure.

You got this.

xx,
Justina

Teen Vogue It Girls Night In: Instaglam

(what I wore: dress c.o. trollied dolly, shoes c.o. bc footwear)

oops we did it again

We had a fabulous It Girls Night In with Teen Vogue and CoverGirl!

As you can see, we got a full spread of CG's new products to play with, and we went to town.
My favorite product is the Flamed Out mascara. A boring choice, you think?
no.

Having a good mascara is probably the most important thing make-upwise,
and this one is the best I've tried.

Also, it comes in a really cool bottle/container/package.

Can't say no to shiny flames

We ate yummy (and gorgeous, I've never seen a tie-dye one) cupcakes, watched Pitch Perfect, and took goofy jump shots in which our ankles were definitely at serious risk.

Testing all these products inspired some pretty interesting conversations about our various beauty routines + looks, so in the video above, you'll get a beauty tip from each of us!

the secrets of the it girl sisterhood

Overall, it was a wonderful night, and Teen Vogue is da bomb for having me host it.

Now I need to go recover from my addiction to these lipglosses

They smell and taste like strawberries,
 it could happen to anyone

Justina

Behind the Sand

Ok, that was a really band pun, even for me
but here it is, what you've been waiting for, (even if you didn't know it...)

BEHIND THE SCENES FOOTAGE

There's Maia Mitchell being super cute, some tips from the Louise Roe
and me in sparkly green eyeshadow.

If that one sentence didn't convince you and you aren't already watching it,
I don't know what to do with you.

My hair looks fabulous.

 oh, NOW you watch it.

xx,
Justina

ps. tomorrow night (Friday, unless you're Australian) I'm hosting a Teen Vogue It Girls Night In Party! Follow me on instagram to get in on the action, and check out the hashtag #justinaisinstaglam!

Queen of Bling

dress: abs | shoes: keds

Part of my Teen Beach Movie shoot, and arguably everyone's favorite,
this dress is that perfect mix of classic and modern.
and so shiny.

Chelsea and I were on the same page:

take a shiny, shimmery dress, add a gemmed-to-the-moon necklace, then  bling, bling, bling

and throw in a metallic belt, just to shake things up.

Let's take a moment to acknowledge that I will never be able to make my hair look that good in a ponytail on my own.

The theme for this part of the shoot was "Mod Americana",
think picnics in the sunshine in the 60's.

Put me down as 100% there for any picnic where we're dressing like this.

Even on a beach.

Although sand in the rhinestones is never fun.

Trust me.

Justina

The Princess's Denim

jacket: vintage | dress: c.o krisp | shoes: (you should know this already) dr. martens

This jacket is like a cocoon. A cocoon designed to be a jacket for someone much a larger than I.
If I wear it for a few weeks, will I turn into a butterfly?

I snatched it out of the bin at everyones favorite buy-it-by-the-pound thrift shop.
Mum thought I was crazy, but I saw the nineties shining through.

when you see the shine, spend the dimes

Literally, it was a dollar. Ten dimes.

score

I've had this dress for ages and worn it every where (except here),
usually receiving "You're so pink! and sparkly!"

like, what am I usually, black and not-sparkly? pfft, no.

It's a really lovely dress though, a little bit fancier without being positively stifling.

The docs.

Overall, just a really random outfit that I sort of love.

I just need a matching tiara.

Justina

There Are Shiny Things In The Dark

dress: c.o. mee mee | shoes: doc martens | necklace: c.o. wonderland wishes

Rex just sort of snuck into that last one

My initial plan was to be super edgy-california fabulous and photograph this outfit in In n Out, but then my fries arrived and....

well

fries.

But it was too good of an outfit to be wasted, so at 11pm, I went out  in my backyard with a flash.

and several non-repeatable words because I kept tripping in badger holes.

I am quite happy with the results, they remind me a bit of Lana Del Rey in her early days.

big hair, almost happening career

I have wanted a t-shirt dress like this for ages, but couldn't ever find the perfect length/color/shape.

Then, like purple magic, this dress landed in my life.

I have a long torso, and am sort of tall, so skater dresses are usually never cut properly for me
and give the impression that I stole the dress off a five-year old.

However,

this dress is perfect. The length is spot on, and it's so soft and gently structured.
It's a great basic piece, and is really easy to twist into different looks.

Of course, for it's first featuring, the docs had to come out.

My beautiful, shiny,
 absolutely-wonderful-in-so-many-ways
Dr. Martens.

I hadn't worn them in a while because it's been so hot, but the minute I put them on, I remembered why I love them so much.

They. are. so. comfortable.

I was springing around like a lunatic all night.

It was a wonderful vacation for my feet.

I've said it before, but I'll say it again:

If you ever do anything for yourself, buy a pair of Docs.

You can thank me after you lace up.

My "Cursed" necklace is probably one of my favorite accessories,
it's sparkly and very eye-catching, although not the easiest to read.

All night, people were staring at my neck and squinting.

"Does that say "crushed"? clown? caramba?"

I'm over my purple phase now..

I'll only say goodbye with words, you'll still be in my closet a hundred times

So you, you just hang there

I'll..go..baaaaaack to...

pink.

Justina

Purple Sunlight

dress: vintage (I bought it when I was 11)  shoes: c.o. miss roberta rucksack: vintage

like purple rain but it never rains here
(except when I'm at camp, of course)

I love this dress a lot.
It's actually meant to be a longish dress on a shorter girl I think.
Whatever. Floats on me well enough.
Purple is my resting color when I accidentally overdose on pink

I am serious about my colors

I made this floral crown as a joke and then got rather attached to it.
It makes me feel rather like I am in one of those religious paintngs
 (or a Beyonce music video)
and this is my halo.

 Saint Justina of....what?

ice cream.

joke floral crowns.

snazziness.

And of course, everyone's favorite cowboy boots.
Been a while since I've taken them out, but at last, they saw the sunshine.

...and my cut up legs, camp was not kind to them.

The rucksack has nothing to do with anything,
it was just the closest bag to the door and I forgot I was wearing it.

Overall, a perfect summer/I never got to go to coachella/I am an indie instagram girl outfit.

Oh, and Happy 4th of July!

Woo America, home of the brave and land of the free...internet!

For those of you reading this who are not 'muricans, just light a sparkler.

Why?
'CAUSE BABY YOU'RE A FIREWORKKKKKK

xx,
Justina

I love this.

You playlists will be better for it.
